17 Day Kenya and Tanzania Luxury Safari

Overview:

This safari itinerary will enable you to visit the very attractive wildlife safari sites in Africa, of Serengeti national park and Ngorongoro Conservation Crater in Tanzania and Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

However, the tour will enable you witness the seventh wonders of the World Nature of the ’Great Wildebeest Migration’ moving yearly from Masai Mara to the Serengeti plains, and the interaction between species is awesomely entertaining.

Serengeti National Park is the oldest and most famous national park in Tanzania, and possibly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world. On the other side, Ngorongoro Conservation Area measuring 8,300 square kilometer declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, with other things is the only place in the earth where mankind and wild animals co-exist in harmony.

On the other side Maasai Mara National Reserve is an area of preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. Its animals include lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras and hippos. Wildebeest traverse its plains during their annual migration. The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers. The area nearby is dotted with villages (enkangs) of Maasai people.

Full itinerary:

Day 00: Arrival at JRO airport:

Our driver will meet and greet you on time at the airport, then transfers to the hotel in Arusha in Gran Melia Arusha – bed and breakfast.

Day 01: Arusha National Park:

Have a game drive in Arusha national park then drive to Tarangire for overnight in Tarangire Safari Lodge – full board.

Arusha National Park famous with troupes of rare colubus monkeys playing in the tree canopy is a popular destination for day trip visitors who are about to embark from the town of Arusha on longer northern circuit safaris. The park also accommodates various wildlife including buffalo, giraffe, elephant, gazelle as well bird species.

On that day you will have time to have a morning game drive and then mid-day walking safari under armed rangers, to explore variety of wildlife species, natural vegetation and landscapes.

Day 02: Tarangire Game Drive:

Have an almost full day game drive in Tarangire national park, then transferred to Lake Manyara to overnight in Serena Lake Manyara Safari Lodge – full board. 

Located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is a lovely, quiet park in Tanzania northern circuit. It is most famous for its ‘elephant migration’, birding and authentic safari atmosphere. In Tarangire you also see good numbers of wildebeest and zebra as well as giraffe, buffalo, Thompson’s gazelle, greater and lesser kudu, eland, leopard and cheetah. You might enjoy your picnic lunch at one of the park’s picnic areas and take in an unparalleled view of the Tarangire River.

Day 03: Lake Manyara Game Drive:

Have an afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara National Park then evening Masai Village leisure walk, overnight in Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge – full board.

Lake Manyara National Park is well known for its tree climbing lions, the soda ash lake and its flamingos and hot spring water. The Park has a number of elephants so many giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck and warthog.

However, the Park regarded as Africa’s largest and huge herds of baboons expected by most of the visitors.

Day 04: Lake Eyasi Bushmen Excursions: 

After breakfast drive to Lake Eyasi to have cultural excursions, including Bushmen activities, overnight in Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge – full board.

The beautiful soda Lake Eyasi that fed by Sibiti and Baray rivers located in the southwest conner of Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authorities, is the home of ancient Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. Visiting the Hadzabe and Datoga at the shores of Lake Eyasi gives you the opportunity to glance into their lifestyle, by seeing their grass huts and communities or by participating in hunting, gathering, jewellery making and more.

Day 05: Game Drive down the Ngorongoro Crater:

Ngorongoro crater is the largest unbroken intact caldera in the world. The Crater is a home of Black Rhinos, Black Mane Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, Foxes and Jackals, Hyenas, and good number of Herbivores like Buffaloes, Wildebeest, Zebras, Gazelles Eland and Elephant Bulls. This is the park you may see the so called the ‘Big Five’ all together!

Day 06: Ngorongoro Conservation Plains Game Viewing:

Today you will have game viewing in Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) of large expanses of savannah, rain forest and bush land. During January – March is the ‘caving’ season of annual Great Wildebeest Migration approaching Ngorongoro – Ndutu and Serengeti south plains, so have chance to explore the hundreds of thousands of wildlife.  Also, you will have chance to visit Masai cultural bamas based in the Conservation.

On the other side, Ngorongoro Conservation Area measuring 8,300 square kilometer declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, is the only place in the earth where mankind and wild animals co-exist in harmony. The area provides wildlife protection status as well permits human habitation at a time. The uniqueness made the NCA the only area in the earth where man, livestock and wild animals all live together in peace. On your way you might see the Maasai cattle grazing alongside zebras and wildebeest in the grassland under 12 year boys’ care taking.

Day 07: Serengeti Game Driving:

Serengeti National Park is the oldest and most famous national park in Tanzania, and possibly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world. Its vast plains are home to predator and prey, vying for grasslands and the last watering holes as the dry season progresses. Between December and May, millions of mammals migrate across the plains, and the interaction between species is awesomely entertaining.

Day 08: Serengeti Full Day Game Drive:

Today you will start your game views with ‘Hot Air Balloon’ excursion, and then proceed with the drives heading to the northern Serengeti where ‘Great Migration’ expected three months later. In that day you will have chance to explore the Wildebeest, Zebras, Gazelles, Topi, Hartebeest those will be wandering at grassland followed by their predators.

Day 09: Transfers Serengeti to Masai Mara:

Depart from Tanzania/Kenya boarder point after immigration and clearing formalities and drive through escarpment of the Great Rift Valley towards Masai Mara. On arrival in Masai Mara might proceed on for a game drive, you will later check in your hotel for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 10 – 23/12/20: Masai Mara Game Drive:

Masai Mara national reserve is the home to an abundance of resident wildlife and the annual Wildebeest Migration (about June to November), and is one of Africa’s most authentic safari destinations in the world. It’s extremely worldwide popular, that is why recommending booking your safari well in advance especially if you want to see the migration.

 

Day 11 – 24/12/20: Lake Nakuru Game Viewing:

Lake Nakuru National Park is dominated by a gentle undulating terrain with open bush and woodlands, typical of the dry rift valley vegetation.

 

Day 12: Aberdare National Park:

The Aberdare National Park is a protected area in the Aberdare Mountain ranges in central Kenya located east of the East African Rift Valley. It covers the higher areas and the Aberdare Salient to the east.

 

Day 13: Ol Pejeta Conservancy Game Viewing:

Have a morning game drive in Aberdare national park; then transferred to Ol Pejeta Conservancy with stopover at Thomson’s Water Falls. Day 14: Samburu Game Reserve Game Drive:

The Samburu National Reserve is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River in Kenya. On the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve.

 

Day 15: Buffalo Springs Tours:

Buffalo Springs is a narrow band of riverine forest along the Ewaso Ngiro which includes Tana River Poplar, Doum Palm and magnificent specimens of Acacia elaior. Vegetations including acacia tortilis woodland and large stretches of bushland dominated by commiphola.

In some areas lava rock is exposed with scattered grassland and shrubs, alkaline grassland with occasional springs and swamps.

 

 

Day 16: Amboseli National Park Game Drive:

Amboseli, despite its small size (392 sq km), this fragile ecosystem supports a wide range of mammals (well over 50 of the larger species) and birds (over 400 species).

The waters from Mt. Kilimanjaro drain down the mountain under lava flows and surface in Amboseli, creating a green belt of swampland amidst dusty plains.

 

The Giraffe Manor Centre located in Lang’ata, approximately 20 km from the city centre, was established to protect the endangered giraffe, those found in the East African grassland.

The nature sanctuary for visiting and wildlife conservation education, was started by Jock Leslie Melville, the Kenyan grandson of a Scottish Earl, when he and his wife Betty captured two baby giraffe to start a program of breeding giraffe on their Lang’ata property, site of the present Centre.
